The next chapter: still unwritten

Natasha said it

the next page is unwritten

Elvis said it

everyday I write the book

And now, I am saying it

new chapters, still unwritten

Life is full of chapters

birth, school, marriage (sometimes), kids (sometimes), illness, happiness and more

But we never know what's next

the next word

the next sentence

the next chapter

But then, it happens

you change the subject

you transition

you make a decision that takes you down a new path

an unwritten path

That's where I am now

we moved

no more house where we raised our kids

no more house where we had three dogs

no more neighbors

no more routines

but a shit ton of opportunity

can go left, right or center

it's not defined

An opportunity to look at life

what works

what doesn't

what changes

what needs exist

and what can be

An open book.

what comes next?

An open road

other metaphors.

But making a decision to move forward opens up many roads

still undefined

but excited to define them

until the next decision is made

Yes, if I am being too poet-y, to be clear, we sold our house of 17 years and moved into a rental house. Let's let maintenance be someone else's problem.

Moving was a little sad. All of the history and memories we have of an amazing house and life. But it's also extremely exciting. It's an opportunity to look at life and figure out what we want.

So who knows what the next word, sentence or chapter holds. Ask me tomorrow.

Wow, how did I miss that you were moving?? Not paying enough attention I guess!

Yes, it was noticeable that you were being surprisingly poet-y -- but it was an abrupt break from the usual, which is appropriate for the occasion, is it not?

Mazel freakin' tov, buddy! You sure have shown us all how much it's up to us, what ends up in our book. It ain't the circumstances that come your way, it's what you do in response. It ain't about the winds - it's about how you set your sails.
